In a couple of days a new president
will be elected for our country or they will re-hire the present holder of the
position. The question for me is, will the United States of America citizens
hire a leader or just an office holder?
In business I have met plenty of
people who hold positions of influence that do not influence because of a lack
of leadership ability. They function as office holders who's primary focus is to
insure that nothing goes wrong in an effort to protect their jobs and move into
retirement while protecting their pay check and status. It's called survival.
The best way to make sure nothing goes wrong is to do
nothing.
The current Presidential office
holder in the White House is such a person. He has done virtually nothing to
move our country forward in a positive way.
> He has not delivered on
anything he has promised other than his ideological agenda of wealth
distribution and the European model of bigger and bigger
government.
> He has handed over "governing"
to a congress full of ideologues which has accomplished only grid lock to a
point that nothing gets done beyond divisiveness , finger pointing, name
calling.
> He prefer's to allow the U.N.
to lead on global events. "Leading from behind" is the White House response to
crisis over seas.
> He has allowed the key issues
of importance to be controlled by "czar's" and government agencies e.g. EPA,
NLRB, DHS etc.
> He refuses to recognize (or
accept) the unique position of American exceptionalism and the burden, hope and
responsibility it affords the world.
> The present office holders of
the White House have proven to be (in my opinion) pretty "low
class" in word's and attitudes i.e. foul mouthed and disrespectful. To see how I
feel about these issue, see my August 25th blog post.
Will Mitt Romney be a Leader or just
hold the position? Honestly? I don't know, but I DO know what've got now in the
Presidential position is
not working and as a business guy I don't keep investing in things that don't
work. I'm not willing to
cast my vote for the same proven failure of the past four years. Our great
country is crying for leadership.
Post script: After writing this article I boarded another
plane and read an interesting column in the "Investor's Business
Daily".
